In September 2015 the LACE project will begin a consultative study on Visions of the Future of learning analytics and educational data mining. This study will inform a report on the future of learning analytics and educational data mining which we will publish in December 2015.
To gather a range of views, we are developing a survey to draw out differences of perception and vision from experts. We want to include researchers, teachers and practitioners across the areas of learning in schools, universities and the workplace. We will draw these experts from our Associate Partners and from people who have participated in activities run by the project. This survey will ask experts to consider views on
- what is desirable,
- what is feasible, and
- the obstacles to making what is desirable happen,
over a time frame of the next 10 to 15 years.
We will run a face-to-face workshop session at the LACE SoLAR Flare on 9th October 2015, which will also feed into the study. The views collected through both the online survey and the face-to-face event will be analysed during the autumn of 2015 leading to the report on the future of learning analytics and educational data mining to be published in December 2015.
